Barndominium builder · Brenham, Burton & Washington CountyThe barndominium builder for Brenham and Burton land
Cross Creek Construction has been the barndominium builder Washington County families call since 1998. Greg Thompson walks your land first, he and Trish design it with you, and a crew he has trusted for years builds it.

A multi-use building that lives like a custom home
A barndominium done right is not a kit with a bed in it. It is a custom home built around the way you use your land, with porches you will actually sit on and room for everything the land requires.
We have built homes, shops, and barns on Washington County land since 1998, back before anyone called them barndominiums. Metal or wood frame, stone or board and batten, that part is your call. The rest is whatever your family needs: some start as a shop with living quarters and grow into the family place, some are a full custom home with the shop bays on the end.
- Real living space. Full kitchens, timber trusses, stone fireplaces, deep wraparound porches.
- Room for the work. Shop bays, equipment storage, tack rooms, or a full stable under the same roof.
- Metal or wood, your call. Metal frame or conventional framing, stone, siding, or both. One building designed around how you will use it.
- The whole site, not just the slab. Driveways, gated entries, fencing, paddocks, ponds, and roads. All phases of turnkey construction.

Barndominiums we have built

Is a Cross Creek barndominium right for you?
- You own land (or are closing on it) in or around Washington County and want to build on it, not on a lot in a subdivision.
- You want real living space AND room for the work: the tractor, the shop, maybe the horses.
- You want one person responsible from design to doorknobs, not a sales office and a rotating crew.
- You care more about it being done right than done by Friday.
Fair warning: we only take a handful of projects a year, on purpose. We want you to have our full attention, and we want the time to build yours right.
How does building a barndominium with us work?
Walk the land with Greg
Every project starts on your property. Greg walks the land with you, talks through what you want, and figures out what belongs where.
Design it together
Greg and Trish design the project with you, and Trish draws the complete set of CAD working drawings. No two projects are alike, so nothing starts from a stock plan.
His crew builds it
A select group of local craftsmen Greg has worked with for years builds it under his direction. You deal with Greg from the first walk to the final walkthrough.
After that first meeting, we would love to show you some of our completed projects in person.

Every project we take gets the attention it deserves. That is a choice, and you can see it in the work.
Nine out of ten of our projects come from referrals. When your neighbor recommends the man who built their place, you are not gambling on a crew you found online.
We treat each job as if we were building for ourselves. Greg has spent more than forty years in construction, and the same select group of local craftsmen has worked with him for years. You will see the same faces on your project from start to finish.

Barndominium questions we hear a lot
Do you build barndominiums on my land?
Yes. Building on your land is what we do. We build on your property in and around Washington County, and we can handle the site work too: the driveway, the pad, fencing, even the pond.
Can a barndominium have a shop or room for equipment?
Yes. We build equipment buildings and stables with or without living quarters, so pairing your living space with a shop bay or a full barn under one roof is normal work for us. You ask and we can make it happen.
Who designs it?
Greg and Trish do, with you. Greg walks the land and plans the build with you, and Trish draws the complete set of CAD working drawings. No two of our barndominiums are alike.
Where do you build barndominiums?
Around Brenham, Burton, and the rest of Washington County, plus nearby communities like Chappell Hill, Hempstead, and Waller. Call and tell us where your land is.
Who will I actually deal with?
Greg, start to finish. He walks your land, he and Trish design the project with you, and his crew builds it under his direction.
Thinking about a barndominium? Call Greg.
We take a handful of projects a year, on purpose. It is the only way every build gets Greg himself, from the first walk of the land to the final walkthrough. When he takes yours, you get all of him.
