Horse barns and stables built by people who know horses

Cross Creek Construction builds custom horse barns and stables around Brenham and Burton, Texas: stalls, wash bays, living quarters, covered arenas, and the paddocks and fencing that make a property work. Built by a family that keeps horses of its own, by a builder who has ridden with the Tejas Vaqueros for decades.

Stables designed from the horse out

Greg keeps horses of his own, so he knows what a barn has to get right: airflow, drainage, stall layout, and a wash bay where you actually want it. We have built custom stables and horse barns since 1998.

Greg has ridden with the Tejas Vaqueros for decades, a fellowship of Texas horsemen that spends a week every September horseback in the Hill Country. When he designs a barn, he is designing for animals he understands and a life he lives himself.

  • Custom stables. With or without living quarters. Stone, cedar, cupolas, cathedral ceilings, whatever fits the property.
  • Working layouts. Wash bays, tack and feed rooms, offices, and party rooms built around a real daily routine.
  • Living quarters. Real living quarters in the barn, and outdoor kitchens where the family gathers after a ride.
  • The whole facility. Covered arenas, run in sheds, loafing sheds, paddocks, fencing, and roads.

Is this you?

Is Cross Creek the right barn builder for you?

Fair warning: we only take a handful of projects a year, on purpose. Your barn gets the same full attention as our custom homes, and the time to get every stall right.

How it works

How does building a barn with us work?

Walk the land with Greg

Every project starts on your property. Greg walks the land with you, talks through what you want, and figures out what belongs where.

Design it together

Greg and Trish design the project with you, and Trish draws the complete set of CAD working drawings. No two projects are alike, so nothing starts from a stock plan.

His crew builds it

A select group of local craftsmen Greg has worked with for years builds it under his direction. You deal with Greg from the first walk to the final walkthrough.

After that first meeting, we would love to show you some of our completed projects in person.

Why Cross Creek

Named barns, not numbered jobs

Cypress Stable. The Polo Barn. The stable with living quarters and an outdoor kitchen at Ranches of Clear Creek. Our barns have names because each one was designed for one property and one family.

Nine out of ten of our clients come to us because someone they trust passed our name along. We would love to show you some of our completed projects.

Questions

Horse barn questions we hear a lot

What do you build for horses?

Custom stables with or without living quarters, horse barns, covered arenas, run in and loafing sheds, wash bays, tack rooms, and the paddocks and fencing that tie it all together.

Can a barn include living quarters?

Yes. Stables and barns with living quarters are one of our specialties. We have built them with living quarters, offices, party rooms, and even an outdoor kitchen.

Do you build covered arenas too?

Yes. Covered riding arenas, including walkways connecting the arena to the stable, are part of what we do. See our Farm and Ranch Buildings page for more on arenas.

Do you handle paddocks and fencing?

Yes. Paddock design, fencing, roads, and other phases of turnkey construction. We can also help with site location, ponds, and the rest of the property.

Where do you build horse barns?

In and around Washington County: Brenham, Burton, Chappell Hill, Hempstead, and Waller. Design services are available beyond that area.
